Body found at brush fire scene in Bremerton, police say

BREMERTON – A body was found at the scene of a brush fire near the intersection of Cogean Avenue and Sheldon Boulevard, which is at the south end of Evergreen Rotary Park, Wednesday morning, Bremerton police said.

Bremerton police and fire responders responded to reports of the brush fire at about 3:45 a.m, and once the fire was put out, human remains were found in the fire scene, police said in a news release.

A detective and the city's fire marshal will investigate the incident to determine "what started the fire and/or how the victim died," the release said. "Until these factors have been determined this death will be considered suspicious."

Police said there was no related ongoing threat to the public.
